Mohammedia Pedestrian Bridge: Avenue Cadi Tazi Guide

Mohammedia Pedestrian Bridge: My Walk Across Avenue Cadi Tazi

When people talk about Mohammedia, Morocco, known as the "City of Flowers", they usually mention the beaches and the parks. I love those too, but on my last walk through the city I stopped at something much more ordinary and much more interesting: the Mohammedia pedestrian bridge on Avenue Cadi Tazi, a steel footbridge that crosses the railway lines.

In this post I'll show you what I saw, how I shot it, and how to fit it into your own walk.

Starting Point: The Desert Mural on Avenue Cadi Tazi

I began at street level. A long wall beside the bridge ramp is painted in soft pink, blue and orange. One section shows a camel and a man in traditional blue Saharan dress, with Arabic calligraphy reading "Moroccan Sahara". It gives a plain stretch of avenue real character, and it was the first thing that made me slow down.

Climbing the Ramp

Walking up the paved ramp toward the railway crossing.

The bridge is reached by a long, gently rising paved ramp. On one side you see apartment buildings, small shops and palm trees, and on the other the steel structure that protects the walkway. This bridge is part of daily life here: students, workers and neighbors use it every day to cross the tracks safely.

Inside the Mesh Walkway

Inside the bridge, where steel mesh and street art meet.

This was my favorite part. Steel mesh panels with diagonal bracing enclose the walkway, and in the sun they throw sharp geometric shadows across the cobbled floor. The concrete side walls carry graffiti, which gives the place an urban, lived-in feel. It's a great spot for street photography.

The View Over the ONCF Railway Lines

From the top you look straight down on the tracks of the national railway, ONCF, running toward Casablanca and Rabat. Through the rusty mesh you can also see rooftops, palm trees and the neighboring overpass. If you plan to travel by train, check the schedules on the official ONCF website.

My Photography Tips

  • Go in the morning or late afternoon. Low sun makes the strongest mesh shadows.
  • Shoot through the mesh. Keep your lens close to the wire so the grid stays sharp and the tracks are visible behind it.
  • Use the ramp as a leading line to add depth to your frame.
  • Respect commuters. Don't block the walkway, it's a daily route.

How to Get There

The bridge is on Avenue Cadi Tazi in central Mohammedia. You can find the exact location on Google Maps and combine the visit with a coffee stop, a stroll along the palm-lined avenues, and a trip to the beach.
